CSRT - The Clarion Rebuilding Utility

The Clarion rebuilding utility called CSRT is used when key files associated with main .dat files have been reported as broken through Clarion Halts or when information cannot be found using various sort functions. It's also used in some out of balance situations.

Before You Begin the CSRT Process

ALWAYS create a backup copy of your files prior to CSRTing. There are two reasons for this. First, in case anything unexpected should happen during the CSRT you have another copy of your files to work with. In addition, it is possible that CSRT cannot correct the problems being experienced by users. In that case, a more powerful utility can be used, however a fresh copy of the files which have not been CSRT'd must be available.

Where to CSRT files

Do not CSRT on your network. Due to unpredictable results received when files are CSRT'd directly on the network, we advise that you either direct the new copies to be created to a local drive or the optimal method is to copy the files to a local drive.

  • CSRTing to a local drive.

CSRTing to a local drive means that when you're in the CSRT dialog box and you complete the Input and Output fields you direct the Output files to another drive.

  • Copying files to a local drive.

After copying your files, either make sure the CSRT.exe is located on that drive or direct your command to your production drive and the util directory.

Copying Files Back After CSRTing

Always delete the original network copies of your files. Prior to copying the new files backup to your production drive on the network, delete the originals with the exception of your zip or backup copy. Files refreshed over existing files may not copy correctly.
